After a full day of ‘just one more store’ in search of the elusive perfect cocktail dress, I’ve finally earned some peace—and a pour of Blanto Read Moren’s Gold. Nose hits with toasted oak, vanilla bean, and dried fruit. On the palate: rich caramel, baking spice, a touch of citrus zest, and that signature Blanton’s heat balanced by a velvety mouthfeel. 103 proof never felt so elegant. Not a bad offering from Angels Envy. The nose was extremely pleasant, sweet oak jumped out of the glass. Read MoreYou could also smell vanilla custard and sweet caramel.
When it came to the palate it was a little underwhelming. The expectation of the nose transferring to the palate never came. I immediately received a bit of a grassy/earthy note along with light vanilla sweetness followed by a spicy oak finish.
Overall it’s not bad BUT I’ve found better offerings for less. General msrp for this bottle is $75 after tax, for a better and longer lasting taste I would recommend Woodford Double oak at $55, Old Forester 1910 at $56 or Peerless double oak for the same price of $75. Read Less
