A healthy splash of water foregrounds passionfruit, goldenrod, and honeycomb.”

Been a minute since I’ve revisited this pour — John J. Bowman Single Barrel. Deep oak, rich caramel, and that signature Virginia smoothness. A timeless favorite. 🥃

This is a great contender in the $40-55 price bracket. There is more than enough flavor and uniqueness to make you enjoy each sip.
The nose has roasted pecan and maple, with a light fruity note of cherry and cranberry.
The flavor is full of that light sweet corn, with brown sugar and pecan praline coming through.
The oak spice comes through the finish. Very hearty with a good texture.
A little lighter compared to higher age stated bourbons, but it doesn't taste youbg or less complex.
An exceptional value and a fun and approachable detour that most people should welcome on their shelves.

Not a common distillery I gravitate towards but still a good bottle especially this release. 2 things I really like, high age statement and cask strength.
Nice dusty oak and nuts with a creamy mouthfeel and good finish. Usually I find Knob Creek to be a bit too peanut forward but this bottle has a nice balance and a great pour.

This is a bourbon lovers Rye. The Age and Higher proof are definitely appealing to people who prefer Bourbon and corn forward whiskey. But the herbal note is present.
I'd say the contrast is akin to comparing green tea to sweet tea. Very enjoyable.
The pallette is very enjoyable. The finish is a little short for my preference, but it is still better than most Ryes.

Nose is amazing 10/10. Caramel and TAFFY Apple. Front palate is great. Just like a cigar. Tobacco taste and mouthfeel like I took a puff of a good cigar but the back end of the palate and finish is nonexistent.
