Today while I was out grabbing more Christmas decorations, I swung by my favorite liquor store and couldn’t leave empty-handed.

Took a trip to JD for a barrel pick and look what I saw. This is the best pour of 2025 hands down.
“Just walked out of Fry’s in Chandler, AZ and Total Wine camelback location with a wild bottle haul. The selections at these stores are insane.. AZ is a whole different league. Fry’s actually carries premium whiskey bottles and there are 27 Fry’s locations in Phoenix. Total Wine’s camelback store is massive. Their camelback location has the kind of spirits variety that feels next-level.
Meanwhile, back in Albuquerque / Rio Rancho, the liquor scene just doesn’t compare. Even the cottonwood Total Wine location is way more limited, heck I can’t remember ever seeing allocated bottles there. Meanwhile, In Rio Rancho, you’ve really only got an Albertsons grocery store that carries their weight of allocations. It’s wild how much more you can score in Phoenix. Latitudes is a good “go to” location but from my experience, they lack basic allocations.

Feeling like something a bit different so I went for this twice barreled single malt whiskey aged in sherry. I definitely get the sherry on the nose. Like a jar of cocktail cherries.
Pleasant palate as well. I get one of those cheap gas station hostess cherry pies. Artificial overly sweet cherry with the cheap doughy pastry crust. Not the pie I’m taking home to my family on Thanksgiving but the pie I get at a gas station on a road trip when I’m feeling a bit scandalous.
