Whelp, not the most flattering name but it was recommended to try. I do get some younger whiskey notes and reminds me of an up and coming craft distil Read Morelery. I get corn notes which helps with the overall balance but it is lacking depth and complexity that age provides. Not bad overall though. Read Less
For tonight's pour we have the 13thcolony Bourbon on deck.
Floral full of caramel and roasted nuts, with a light touch of charred oak and Read More grass.
Taste profile is sweet with your typical bourbon notes of caramel, vanilla, sweet cherry, pecan nuttiness, with a nice mellow sweet corn note throughout.
The oak and pecan nuttiness really linger through the finish. It's a mellow finish, with a light syrup texture that is unusual in a more budget friendly bourbon.
This may be one of the more budget friendly options by 13th Colony, but it doesn't taste cheap. This doesn't taste like your typical shelf available young bourbon. This is worthy of being a nightly sipper, and would also enhance any bourbon cocktails you put it in. Read Less
