Review #26 Old Louisville The Kentucky Series
Distillery: Old Louisville Whiskey Company
ABV/Proof: 50/100
Ag Read Moree Statement: 8 years
Mash Bill: 78% Corn 10% Rye 12% Malted Barley
We all have our own collecting habit when it comes to whiskey, but have the eight bottles from Old Louisville’s Kentucky Series made their way into your lineup yet?
Nose: Oak, cherry, toffee, brown sugar, light baking spice. As I get toward the end, I find some hints of earthiness.
Palate: Oak again right away, maraschino cherries, nutmeg spice, and a subtle nuttiness. As I work further into this glen, I start to find the emergence of dark red fruits and toffee.
Finish: Nutmeg spice leads the way, followed by subtle notes of toffee and red fruits, finishing with a fantastic, warming touch that’s never overdone.
I rate this at 8.8 out 10.
The next time I come across one of these bottles, I’ll definitely be adding another letter to my collection. This was a fantastic pour, and I really enjoyed the complexity throughout the palate. Old Louisville did a fantastic job with this bottle and I can’t wait to try some more offerings! Cheers!🥃🥃

Such a unique desserty flavor. Reminds me of cinnamon covered marshmallows on the nose and very inviting.
Palate is just a sweet dessert Read More as well. Vanilla cinnamon, honey, and brown sugar. I’ve known Dragons milk more for their beer but their whiskey game has no gone unnoticed especially now. Great bottle, well done Michigan. Read Less

Stagg Jr
Hot, full of flavor, full if spice, full of cherry and dr pepper spice. Exactly what you want in a higher proof whiskey.

But.....
I feel this one is starting to suffer from diminishing returns. It's very good, but a lot of companies are making very commendable efforts to make "Stagg Killers" that now I am starting to think this one is only worth it if you are just a diehard fan.
Controversial take, I know Read Less

Some home aging experiments I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving.
Bottle one is Apple Whiskey mixed with Jack Daniel's and an Amburana Spi Read Moreral.
Bottle #2 is a "poor Man's Pappy" wheated bourbon blend that i proofed down and added a French Oak Spiral.
Bottle #3 is a different "pappy-esque" blend of a wheated bourbon with an American Oak spiral with heavy char.
Going to let these age in the Bottle until Thanksgiving and we will see how they turned out Read Less
