Appearance - The pour has a light golden hue to it. After a quick swirl in the glen you see that it coats well and develops thick spaced out legs that creep down the glass returning to the pour almost as a solid curtain. This pour looks amazing!
Nose - As you get into the glen, you get a toasted cereal type grain note upfront. This gives way to a gentle honey note and sweet pear and on the backend you get a hint of citrus peel. The nose is very inviting.
Palate - As you take that first small sip, you are met with light toffee and apricot sweetness as well as a malty grain note. As you go back in for a slightly larger sip, you get this wonderful fig and date note along with a small bite of spice that helps dial back the sweetness. You get some baking spices as well, like powdered cinnamon and nutmeg. Throughout the pour, you get a medicated bandaid note that lingers and weaves itself in and out of the notes. This medicated bandaid note is from the light peat note (unfortunately this is how peat comes across on my palate which is why I generally am not a fan of peat), but it is so faint that you might only notice it if you are sitting and picking the pour a part trying to see everything it has to offer. Even so, the palate on this pour is well balanced and delightful.
Finish - As you sit and allow this pour to remind you of what it is, you get a wonderful sweet honey note that shows back up with a little smokiness , and dry oak. The stone fruit note returns as well. The finish on this pour is medium long and very enjoyable.
Overall - So I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a fan of peated whiskey. But dang it, this one was enjoyable in smaller sips for me. I tip my cap to you Cedar Ridge, this is a first for me! But with how well balanced this pour is as it starts out sweet, then gives a quick small punch of spice, and the sweetness comes back with some dry oak and smokiness…. Well, this is a very solid ASM!
Score #/10 - As I sit and sip the last of the pour, I am trying hard to decide on a score as I’m torn. But alas, the score is a comfortable 7.8/10 and for all of the Scotch lovers out there, this could be much higher.

Went to Maryland this past weekend to celebrate with family and stumbled across these gems! My intent was to visit just one store and that’s exactly what happened! One and Done!

A blast from the past with an older release of Remus Repeal Reserve. When I got this bottle, it was drastically less expensive. Today this release is unfortunately much more expensive but at least it’s more available since it’s left on the shelf more. It is hard to justify this bottle at the current MSRP but it’s hard to deny this bottle has a lot of positives going for it.
