wasn't that bad
👃🏾: vanilla, ripe fruit, caramel, & hints of floral notes.
👅: immediate rye spice, followed by those ripe fruit notes, with vanilla, hints of cinnamon, with lingering oak and light mint on the finish.
For me, a few determining factors of purchasing this bottle was 1...l'm a huge Four Roses fan (Four Roses small batch was the 1st bottle l ever purchased on my bourbon journey) 😎💪🏾 2 it
was only $40 so why not give it a shot? 🤷🏾♂️
Overall due to me still not being much of a rye guy 😅
nose- 7.5/10, palate- 8.3/10, finish- 8/10,
price- 9/10 for an overall score of 8.2
If you're looking for a high rye bourbon with some complexity, nice finish and at an affordable price...look no further than Four Roses OBSV 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹

I couldn’t be more excited about finally getting my hands on Old Commonwealth Kentucky Nectar Batch no. 3 Cask Strength! That beautiful sweet honey and vanilla taste comes through from nose to finish! This is a must have if you can get your hands on one!

1920 will always be a staple in my selection. Classic bourbon profile and one of the first bourbons I had.

I love Willett products. So this was one i have been wanting to try for a while. Price wise, its a dead on competitor to Buffalo Trace. Yet, for the apples to apples comparison, usually Willett products drink well above their price point. So I wanted to give this one a shot to see if it would hold up as a possible budget friendly constant at my home bar.
Nose is maple syrup. With that signature Willett "herbal sweet tea" prominent as well, pleasantly so. Some toffee present as well.
Taste has maple syrup, tobacco, date, dark fruit, and that herbal sweet tea. Absent is that cherry note you find in other bourbons in this price range (like BT).
The texture is thick. I genuinely wish older and more expensive bottles of whiskey had the texture of this $38 bourbon. Great Kentucky hug, tapers off nicely.
The 107 proof is perfect for sipping neat or over ice.
I think this is yet another time where a Willett product drinks above it's price and relative competition.
This is a complete sleeper. Don't skip on it.
It's not the best bourbon. But this is everything you want in a budget weeknight sipper, and far more. Excellent value.

Over the holiday weekend I just wanted to sit down and enjoy a classic good bottle with no strings attached and that I know will hit the spot every time. Weller 12 is that bottle for me. It’s just good and it just works. What are some of your staple bottles that hit the spot every time you reach for it?
