A great traditional mixer. Tasting notes :sweet raisin, banana with hint of wood. The barreled in bond and other expressions of it are better sippers but Jack and coke will always be an American favorite.

Smells so refined. I’m getting dark red wine notes. Caramelized sweet banana, most pleasant banana note I’ve ever nosed. Rich oak with vanilla and tobacco. This is what I imagina man’s man would drink like Clint Eastwood or.. Or like Batman. Lots of dark notes.
Dark oak engulfs my palate on my sips. A rush of dark flavors cost my mouth and dry it out a bit. I’m getting tannin like a super dark Cabernet wine still. Still getting tobacco that transfers nicely on the palate. Medium-long finish and very surprising burst of flavor and finish for 107 proof. Such a great bottle.
I really like this bottle in my collection because it’s so different from my other sweet and lighter flavors. When I feel dark and mysterious like Batman this is the pour that hits that spot.

Ryes have really started growing on me this year. It all started with manhattans and I’ve slowly been branching out. I sill prefer bourbons overall but when the mood strikes it is a necessary addition to my bar.

I still remember getting my first bottle of blanton’s and it’s a really special memory. I was just getting into the hobby and this was my grail bottle. It wasn’t until I got a little more experience and a few more bottles where I adjusted my rankings haha.
Definitely overhyped and approaching overpriced even at retail. Nevertheless it’s still a great entry level bottle to get people excited and into the rabbit hole the rest of us are in. What bottles do you have fond memories acquiring?

Happy Friday! Happy Rye Day! I whistled and this other pig showed up! Whistle Pig 10 year old Rye! Rye spice with a herbal sweet start with a hint of mint and cardamom, then finishes with a pepper that makes it's 100 proof feel a little hotter. A little water or a little ice makes it super nice! Pretty fly for "Not a RyeGuy" !
