In Japan I just had to try some Japanese whiskey. I’m not too knowledgeable to be honest in this type of whiskey but I figured dip my toes since I was in Tokyo. Cherry and Honey as well as bright fruits stuck out for me. Reminded me more of scotch and Irish whiskey than bourbon. A great pour but I think I’d rather have good old fashioned bourbon since the charring really gives off that sweetness and oak I really enjoy.
Is it just me or have the shelves been stacked with some seriously solid options? Seems like not every great pour has to come from the “rare and elusive” side of the aisle. Some are simply bottles that don’t need a chase to shine. It’s a great reminder that quality doesn’t have to mean hard to find.
