In the mood for something lighter so I took out Hancock’s Reserve. This bottle gets a lot of hate (from myself included). It’s thin and not much f Read Morelavor with a nonexistent finish. But with that in mind it’s actually a very pleasant light/easy experience.
I think a beginner would really enjoy this bottle because there is no infamous burn or ethanol. I can turn my brain off and just enjoy this pour. Read Less

Saturday’s bourbon hunt took me into the Hudson Valley, where I stopped at one of my favorite local shops, @mironwineandspirits . They always have g Read Morereat bottles on the shelf, and their store picks are worth a look if you’re hunting for something good.
I picked up an Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Bottled in Bond at MSRP, and I’ve got to say, I really like this one. The bottle looks great, and it’s nice seeing Heaven Hill release an Old Fitz that’s a little more accessible.
On the nose I got sweet oak, vanilla, caramel, orchard fruit, brown sugar, and cinnamon. The palate was smooth and sweet, with notes of apple, pear, toffee, baking spice, and rich oak. The finish brought more cinnamon, caramel, and lingering spice.
Not the most complex Old Fitz I’ve had, but definitely a smooth, easy sipper and worth buying if you spot it at MSRP. Read Less

Old Grand Dad 114 is a bartenders favorite bourbon to make cocktails with and it’s easy to see why. Nice classic oak bourbon flavors and the proof t Read Moreo punch through the ice and sweeteners added to old fashioned’s.
I like the flexibility of this bottle but I mainly use it for my cocktails and it never disappoints.
