Bourbon is an American classic that has been loved around the world for decades - and for good reason. This whiskey variety has been produced in the U
nited States since the 18th century, with Elijah Craig being considered the original distiller. Its made primarily from corn, along with other grains and is aged in charred oak barrels, to give it its distinctive flavor. Although Kentucky produces 95% of the worlds bourbon, it doesnt need to be made there. For a whiskey to be considered bourbon, the mash must be made of 51% corn and be made in the United States. It tends to have notes of vanilla, caramel, and honey, making it smooth and sweet. It is often served neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of cocktails.
