Came highly recommended so I figured, why not.
Fresh crack today on this Weller 12 and wow this bottle jut doesn’t miss. I normally like this bottle for its pleasant balance and drink ability but last evening it really popped with sweet oak flavors and delivered so much flavor for the proof point. One of the best lower proof bottles I’ve ever had.
Recently I had some Old Rip Van Winkle and today I had its older brother, Lot B.
Lower proof but higher age and I can tell both instantly. The 10 year Old Rip is a trust fund frat boy who parties hard but is hungover Tuesday morning. The Lot B is the valedictorian who spends his time at the library sitting on a leather bound hair. Same family, but different approaches to college.
Less punch but so much more refined. Nose is a sweet berry oak that doesn’t smack me in my face, I have to hunt for it a bit and once I find it I get a perfect balance of oak and sweetness. No ethanol on the nose or palate. Normally I prefer ORVW than Lot B but tonight I gotta give the award to Lot B.
